On-Site Interpretation

Native understands how beneficial it can be to have a trained interpreter in person at your appointments, especially in delicate situations.  It not only empowers the LEP individual, but it also strengthens the bond between you and your client.  We provide on-site interpretation across San Diego County in several fields including medical, legal, academic and social services.

At Native getting to know you is all part of the program.  We will work closely with you to assign an interpreter with the skill set that suits your organization’s specific needs. We will also guide you through the basics of working with an interpreter to ensure that you are getting the most out of our services.  Remember that utilizing interpreters not only efficiently improves your services, but also furthers your goals!

Why On-Site Interpreting?

    • Simply put, if the interpreter can be in the same room as the client and provider, the quality of the interaction improves.
    • An on-site interpreter minimizes the confusion and distance that often occurs with technology-based translations.
    • There are fewer potential barriers to communication because the interpreter can gauge the room and pick up on nonverbal cues.
    • Having an interpreter on-site adds a personal touch and can be particularly helpful in appointments that are lengthy and deal with complex or sensitive issues.

Interpreter Screening Process

    • Interpreters undergo a screening process that includes a rigorous in-person interview.
    • Verified completion of 40 hours of interpreter training.
    • Interpreters are also required to have a minimum of two years interpreting experience.
    • Prior to being considered eligible to perform interpreting services for Native Interpreting, interpreters must score 90% or higher on an interpreting assessment.  The assessment measures their knowledge on the ethics and standards of the profession and HIPAA rules and regulations.
